I think you should audition if you feel like it. It will be a good experience for you. You will know what level the other girls who audition are at. That way, you will know how much more training you need. It will also help you get used to the pressure of auditions. Your instructor will hopefully be supportive. I wouldn't worry about the boarding thing yet... Best of luck to you!

I would think that your instructor would be really supportive of you trying out. Or she should be, at least. If she is a respectable instructor, she will tell you how she feels honestly either way.
Just go audition!
I don't want to tell you that your mother is always wrong but in this case I think she is being over protective and she is affecting your thoughts on the whole thing. I think her reaction is Pyching you out. I don't know you but if some thing deep inside is telling you to go for it then do it. If you don't you will always regret it. I am sure your mother does not want you to regret not taking a chance with some thing you really want to do. My mother actually has a certain amount of respect for me since I have made some decisions like this for my self that goes against her advice, and in a weird way she admires the way I have listened to what she had to say but then took my own road in life instead of listening to her all the time. I bet your mother is just being over protective. you need to make this choice yourself. get other opinions before you move on to build your confidence. talk to your class mates and see what they think they see you everyday along with your instructors. I say go with what your heart tells you. Good luck with that.
If you have the technique required for ballet at the Royal Ballet School, and you are the correct age to audition, then you should definitely audition, whether it be for a summer intensive dance camp or the full year program. You should have confidence!
